Palma (Caliguri) Arcuri, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, surrounded by loving family at Care One in Millbury.
Palma is survived by her loving husband of nearly sixty-eight years, Angelo Arcuri, and the loving family that made their lives enriched with love, three sons, Santo Arcuri and his wife Teresa of Worcester, Salvatore Arcuri and wife Franca of Worcester, and David Arcuri and his wife Vanessa of Sutton; three daughters, Domenica Conte and her husband Tony of Auburn, Concetta Ritacco and her husband Mario of Sutton, and Ivana Pellegrino and her husband Cosimo of Worcester; a sister, Nina Pignataro of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Born in Acri, Italy daughter of the late, Salvatore and Concetta (Leonetti) Caligiuri, she grew up in Italy, and married her love, Angelo where they started their family there before moving to Worcester in 1969.
Palma worked as a cook for many years at Dino’s Restaurant, then opened Café Sport Pizza in 1981, before opening Palma’s Bakery on Grafton Street in Worcester. She was a long time member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the Beato Angelo D’Acri Society.
As the matriarch, Palma’s will to live was for her family. She loved nothing more than to cook for them, have everyone together, and sit outside her porch where she had filled with beautiful memories. She would share endless stories of her love for her beloved hometown Acri.
We would like to thank the staff at Care One Millbury and Salmon Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Palma.
