Patrick D. Halvorsen, 17, of North Brookfield, fought the good fight and maintained dignity throughout his battle with glioblastoma. Patrick passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his devoted parents, Margaret and Michael.
Patrick was born in Worcester to his loving parents, Michael and Margaret (Coomey) Halvorsen; and was a loving brother to Petty Officer Third Class Christopher Halvorsen stationed with The US Navy in Hawaii. Beside his parents and brother, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, David and Patricia Halvorsen in Florida; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, William and Julia Coomey.
Patrick was currently in his junior year at Quabbin Regional High School, where he was active in the ROTC program. He loved collecting sneakers, attending concerts, and playing video games. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends.
Calling Hours for Patrick will be on Friday, February 5, from 4 p.m. until7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, February 6, at 10 a.m. in Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester (it is requested that people go directly to the church). Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
COVID protocols will be followed at the funeral home, church, and cemetery. These include social distancing and the use of face masks.
