Paul Andrew Costa

August 15, 1965 — January 14, 2023

Paul Andrew Costa, 57 of Natick passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at his home.  Paul is survived by his mother Margaret (Shuttie) Costa, also of Natick, his brother COL (Ret.) Christopher Paul Costa and his wife Donna of Washington, DC and his sister Susan Stevens and her husband Charles of Shrewsbury.  He is also survived by his nephew Paul J. Costa and his wife Angela, his nephew Philip C. Costa and his wife Sara and his niece, Chloe Stevens.  He also leaves behind three great nephews, CJ, Teddy and Luca Paul.  Paul also received the love of his aunts, uncles, cousins and many wonderful friends.  He was predeceased by his father, Paul Norman Costa of Southbridge and his young nephew, Andrew “Drew” Paul Stevens of Shrewsbury.  Paul’s larger than life smile and personality were matched only by his love for his family and friends.

A graduate of Natick High School and Worcester State University, Paul turned his love of watches into a professional career for Tourneau Watch Company and Rolex.  He traveled within the United States and internationally to Switzerland, at the request of manufacturers looking to expand market share, and was a brand ambassador for the historic Breitling Swiss watch company.  With grandparents that emigrated from Albania, Paul was incredibly proud of his Albanian heritage.  He met with the Albanian Ambassador to the United States in Washington, DC, traveled to Albania, appearing on their national television station, and had an audience with the Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of Korçë during Orthodox Easter.

Paul was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, where he volunteered at numerous Albanian festivals and church events.  He also was a past president of the Sons of St. Mary’s, an organization dedicated to raising scholarships for deserving students, and a member of the Albanian American National Organization (AANO).  With the AANO, Paul coached the Worcester basketball team to the AANO national championship, and left coaching as one of the winningest coaches in AANO history.  He was also a long-time member of the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriffs Association.

Arrangements will be conducted by Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel.  Calling hours will be held at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St., Worcester on Friday, January 20 from 9-11am, immediately followed by his funeral at 11am.  Burial to follow at Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Andrew Paul Stevens Endowment Fund at Children’s Medical Center, UMass Memorial Office of Philanthropy, One Biotech Park, Suite 301, 365 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605.
