Paul W. Kalinowski, 79, of Boylston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the Odd Fellows Home.
Born in Worcester, Paul was one of seven children of the late Edward and Gladys (Jakubowicz) Kalinowski. He grew up in Worcester, graduated from St. Mary’s High School, and went on to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute. During the Vietnam War, Paul proudly served his countryin the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. Paul enjoyed a long and successful career as an engineer with Norton Company/Saint-Gobain, where he worked for over 35 years before retiring. During his career, Paul developed and held several different patents.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Susan J. (Esip) Kalinowski; his son, David P. Kalinowski and his wife Karen of Boylston; two daughters, Christine Ruggieri of Holden and Cheryl Smith and her husband James of Worcester; six cherished grandchildren, Nicolas, Jeffrey, Abigail, Luke, Grace and Justin; three brothers, Edward Kalinowski of Carmel, Indiana, John Kalinowski of Webster, and Richard Kalinowski of Northbridge; two sisters, Marcia Rojcewicz and her husband Richard of Grafton, and Christine Belsito and her husband Raymond of Petersham; as well as many nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Kalinowski of Holden.
Paul was a proud member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club. Paul had been a devoted member of the Boylston Historical Society, where he spent time participating in reenactments as part of the town’s militia. Paul had a love for travel, and he particularly enjoyed his yearly visits to Mexico. He was a talented handyman who could fix just about anything. Paul especially treasured the time spent with his beloved grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, December 16th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Odd Fellows Home of Worcester for their care of Paul.
Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
