Ozzy (Paul) T. Osborn, 78, of Worcester, Mass. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Denise (Favreau) Osborn; his children, Steven and his wife Kathy of West Boylston, David of Leicester, Kevin and his wife Jennifer of Auburn, and Jodi of Worcester. His grandchildren, Erin, JJ, Jenna, Mya, Sophia, Paul, Hunter, Kellen, Wyatt and a great grandson, Otis. His sister, Penny T. Rawson and her husband Charles of FL, brother, Fred T. Osborn and his wife Suzanne of NY, his sister in-law, Jeanne Osborn of ID; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Laurence and Caroline (Thurston) Osborn, and by two brothers, Jan T. and Thom T. Osborn.
He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He was a Sergeant in the US Air Force Military Police from 1964-1968. He worked as a mechanic at Bob Sainsbury Garage on Chandler Street and then went on to work at Winter Hill Frozen Foods in Westboro for 25 years. He was Vice President and Treasurer of L & N Enterprises until his retirement at age 62. He kept busy working part time at the Notre Dame Cemetery until his early 70’s. Oz was a member of the American Legion Post #288.
Oz enjoyed reading, visiting Suney’s, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, as long as it wasn’t during naptime. The neighborhood kids knew that Mr. O always had the door open for food and fun, but the only rule was hats off as you came inside. Although he called everyone Cynthia or Agatha, he knew who you were. His grandchildren looked forward to his Friday night visits so they could earn Swedish Fish for getting him a beer. Above all, you could always count on Ozzy for a sarcastic joke or comment with a Michelob Light in hand.
Calling Hours will be on Friday, April 9, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; another Calling Hour will be on Saturday, April 10, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
