Paul J. Zambarano

Paul Joseph Zambarano of Auburn, MA., passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center of Worcester.

Born in Worcester, on July 2, 1936, a son of the late Paul P. and Vera R. (Ciullo) Zambarano. Paul was the Class President of his 1954 senior class at Commerce High School in Worcester and a graduate of Clark University.  He enjoyed a 37-year long career of counseling and teaching at Leicester Middle School and High School. He was much loved and appreciated by his former students and maintained many close connections throughout the years.  After retiring in 1998, he took a cross country trip with his wife Pat to visit daughter Lisa in Washington State traveling back Route 66 ending in Florida where he settled as a snowbird for 18 years between MA and FL.  He continued to pursue his love of camping, fishing, cross country skiing, hunting, golfing and especially family get togethers at White Horse Beach around the campfire in Plymouth with music provided by his talented children and grandchildren.

While a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, he was a lector and eucharistic minister. He was also a member of St. John’s Church Prayer Group, where he served in leadership roles.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife of almost 35 years, Patricia (Veleno) Paige Zambarano; his children, Stephen of Plymouth, Marie and her husband Charles Kadlik of Holliston, Joseph of Leicester, Kristina and her husband John Russo of Shrewsbury, James of Spencer, and step-son Mark Paige and his wife Lisa of Wake Forest, NC; his brother, Thomas and his wife Ann of Mechanicsburg, PA; his sister, Angela Muise of Shrewsbury and brother William and his wife Linda of Worcester; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by a daughter, Lisa DeMaria; a brother-in-law, David Muise.

Calling hours for Paul will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 8:30-10:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with departure from the funeral home in procession to Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to: St. Mary’s Healthcare Center, 39 Queen St., Worcester for the excellent care he received or to the VNA of your choice, for their excellent care over the years.
