Worcester – Peter John Solitro, 53, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 24, 2021, after being stricken ill.
Born on May 24, 1968, Peter was a lifelong resident of Worcester Massachusetts. He graduated from Holy Name High School. Shortly after, he joined the Floorcoverers Local Union #2168 in Boston and took his skills to the residential realm, where he started his own flooring and tile business. If anyone needed a hand, Peter was always willing to help.
Peter was a sports enthusiast. His passion and love of sports originated from his time playing Babe Ruth baseball at Holmes Field and Varsity football at Holy Name, where he was invited to participate in the Shriner’s All Star football game. He later played many years of softball, including his time playing for the Osterman’s team, at Hubbard field, where his team went to the World Championship of softball in Las Vegas.
Peter loved his family, adored his children Joey and Ava Solitro and enjoyed hanging out with friends. Anyone who knew Peter knew he told the best stories. His laugh was infectious, and he made everyone around him feel like they were the most special person in the world. He had a huge heart and loved nothing more than helping people.
Peter will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his parents Antonio and Karen Solitro, his biological mother Catherine Solitro, children Joey and Ava Solitro, siblings; Mathew Solitro and his wife Kelly of Shrewsbury, Dina and her husband Timothy Rassias of Holden, Andrew Solitro and his wife Jamie of Shirley, Anthony Solitro and his husband Aaron Dewey of Philadelphia, and Fabio Trimigno residing in Italy, many nieces and nephews , including Nick Solitro a.k.a. “Quick Nick, “with whom he had a special bond; his partner Mary Gallagher and her children Bria, Lila, and Ella; extended family members and friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Tuesday, September 7th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. His funeral will be celebrated Wednesday, September 8th from the funeral home with a procession to St Bernard’s Church, 228 Lincoln Street, where his celebration of Christian burial mass will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to St Bernard’s Church Outreach Program, 228 Lincoln Street Worcester, 01605.
