Ramonita Virola Garcia

Ramonita Virola Garcia, 83, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Saint Vincent Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  Her husband, Luciano Rodriguez, predeceased her in 1979.

Ramonita is survived by her children, three son, Luciano Rodriguez, II and his wife Migda of Adjuntas, PR, Andres Rodriguez, and William Rodriguez both of Worcester; six daughters, Merlyn Salas of Providence, RI, Isabel Maisonet of Worcester, Natividad Rosado and her husband Fernando of Worcester, Ruth Sanchez and her husband Gilberto of Clermont, FL, and Lillian J. Rodriguez of Worcester, and Evangelista Castro of New Jersey; two sisters, Flora and Tita Virola, both in Puerto Rico; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  Ramonita was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late, Jose Virola and Maria Garcia.

Ramonita was matriarch of her family.  She was loved and respected because of the way she cared for people around her.  This love was extended to her church family at the Spanish Church of God in Worcester.  She relished the opportunity to care for the children at her church as a Sunday School teacher.  She believed in the value of every children and put forth every effort to teach and guide her students in the word of God.

She will always be remembered by her family for the love and caring she showered upon them.

Calling Hours for Ramonita will be held on Monday, February 4, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. in Tuesday, February 5, in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
