Randy Hayes Richards, 41 of Worcester, became an Angel on February 24, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Randy leaves his son, Devin Hayes Richards; his parents, Clifford H. and Susan M. (Kelleher) Richards; his three sisters, Kerryanne Benoit, Lisa M. Richards and Katie L. Richards; his brother, Robbie Richards and a sister-in-law, Molly E. Richards all of the Worcester area; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Joan (Chumsae) Kelleher of Cape Coral, FL; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Marcella (Bartlett) Richards.
Randy was born on October 15, 1980, in Worcester, where he attended North High School. He worked as a cook for Boulevard Diner. Randy formerly worked as an arena facility set-up employee and a roofer/construction worker for many years. Randy was a talented cartoon artist, loved fishing, sports and was a general entertainer to family and friends who would make the room light up with laughter. Randy was a kind, loving, giving soul who adored his son. Randy had a heart of gold, and when help was needed, he stepped up and said “Why not me?” His kind soul and beautiful heart will be missed by all his family and friends.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful and caring caregivers at UMass Memorial Hospital especially 6 ICU for their love and compassionate care they gave to Randy and all his family.
A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 3-6 pm with his funeral service immediately following at 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately and at a later date.
