Raymond A. Bousquet, Jr.

Raymond A. Bousquet, Jr., 93, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, surrounded by loving family.

Raymond was born in Worcester in 1926, son of Raymond and Florence (Wyman) Bousquet, and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade, he later served in the Merchant Marines in 1944 and 1945.  He was recently recognized by the Veterans Administration for serving his beloved country during a time of war.

Ray worked as a pattern and model maker all his life.  He retired from Morgan Construction in 1988.  He was an accomplished artist and wood carver.  His last showing of his works was at the Worcester Public Library.  Ray has carvings displayed at the Francis Wyman Museum in Burlington, MA.  His most viewed work is the pattern for clocks used on sites such as Main Street in Holden, Solomon Pond Mall, and Disney World, along with many other sites.

Ray enjoyed spending time in the home he built in 1953 on Lake Quinsigamond, the home where he raised his children, and lived with his wonderful wife Marjorie.

Ray was also a collector and restorer of classic and antique cars.  As recently as three weeks ago, he drove his 1931 Model A Ford with a smile on his face.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Marjorie (Trahant) Gervais Bousquet, her son, Robert Gervais and his husband John McLean of Worcester; son, Ronald Bousquet and his partner Jane Lowe of Worcester; daughter, Karen Saucier and her husband Stephen of Newport, RI; son Richard Bousquet and his wife Lucy of Woodstock, CT; daughter, Shiela Caney and her husband Brian of Dudley; a brother, William Bousquet of Worcester; grandchildren, Keith and Stacey Bousquet, Rick Bousquet, Michael Cronin, Nicholas and Eve Saucier, Jesse and Joshua Caney; seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Ray was predeceased by his first wife of twenty-seven years and mother of his children, Anita T. (Plante) Bousquet; four brothers, Ernest, George, Chandler, and Robert; a sister, Barbara Bousquet Calocci; a daughter in law, Kathleen M. Shannon Bousquet.

The family would like to offer a special heartfelt “thank you” to all of the kind people at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence and VNA Care Network.  Their kindness and care will be remembered as a loving gift to Ray’s family.

Calling Hours for family and close friends will be on Tuesday morning, October 29, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; followed by a Funeral Service, in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
