Reverend Richard D. Ritacco, 81, of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully, Monday, March 6, 2023, after a period of declining health.
Richard was born in Worcester, the son of Salvatore J. and Ann M. (Londergan) Ritacco. He graduated from Scared Heart Academy, class of 1960. He attended Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire and earned a bachelor’s degree from Holy Apostles Seminary College in Cromwell, CT, and Master of Divinity from St Francis Seminary, Loretto PA. He was ordained on June 5, 1976, by Bishop Benard Flanagan into the Diocese of Worcester and served many years before retiring.
Reverend Ritacco is survived by his sister, Karen Conti and her husband Frank; nephews, Eric Conti and his wife Kristin, Shane and Mark Conti; great nieces and nephews, Julia, Madison, Addison, Elliot, Tate and Brayden; extended family and friends.
Richard was a member of the Oxford Knights of Columbus, Cursillo of the Diocese of Worcester, Marriage Encounter, Director, and the B.O.A.F of New Hampshire.
Funeral services and burial in Saint John’s Cemetery were held at the convenience of the family. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial remembrances in his name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The Ritacco family would like to thank the Southgate Community and Shrewsbury Nursing home for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Richard during a difficult time.
