Richard “Dicky” Donaghy of Worcester, MA died peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the age of 80.
He is survived by a sister, Marie Donaghy; his brothers Charles Donaghy and his wife Anna, Steven Donaghy; a brother-in law Richard Setaro. He is predeceased by a brother, James Donaghy, a brother-in-law Louis Bamikas; four sisters Margaret Setaro, Patricia Donaghy, Noreen Cormier and Samara Donaghy and a nephew Richard Setaro. He was born in Worcester, the son of Charles and Annette (Amoroso) Donaghy.
Richard enlisted to the United States Army in 1965. He proudly served his country during two terms during the Vietnam War. He received various decorations for his wartime service including the Bronze Star with Valor.
For more than 35 years until retirement, he worked as a Shipping/Expeditor at the Massachusetts Steel Heating division of GKN. Dicky was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching all teams compete. He also enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii. Dicky’s favorite activity was spending time with his family. He had several nieces and nephews that he treated as his own children.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, September 25, from 9 am until 11 am, followed by a Service at 11 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
