Richard E. Maguire, 66 of Naples Florida passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was born in Worcester, one of four children of Richard and Mary (Cronin) Maguire (deceased). Rich joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1972. He honorably served his country for twenty years Active Duty and ten years in the Naval Fleet Reserve receiving many professional accolades and citations. Post retirement from the U.S. Navy Rich was employed by the Dept of Public Works in NV, CT, and FL and locally with Sterling Concrete in Sterling Ma. He also worked part time at the Naples Municipal Airport and several assisted living facilities.
Rich will be lovingly missed by his sister Patricia Ottaviano and her husband Michael with whom he shared an incredible bond. In addition, he is survived by his former partner Nancy Martin, siblings Jane Howard and Francis Maguire and two sons John and Thomas Maguire.
Rich was a member of the American Legion in Bonita Springs. Although he was a very private person he developed friendships at the Legion, with co-workers in New England and Florida and with fellow beachgoers at his beloved Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. A special thank you to Rich’s friend Brian Radford for his sincere friendship and for physically caring for Rich in his final days. We will be forever grateful.
There are no calling hours. Interment will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA. Memorial remembrances may be made to Veterans Inc. Worcester MA. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
