Richard E. Gingras, 83, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the UMASS Medical Center surrounded by the family he loved. 

Richard’s wife of 53 years, Nancy L. (Luzier) Gingras passed away May 5th, 2015. He is survived by four sons, Richard Gingras and his wife Luann of Georgia, Robert Gingras and his wife Elizabeth of Ohio, Marc Gingras and his wife Kathleen of Worcester, Matthew Gingras, and his partner, Melissa Levine of Barre: seven grandchildren: five great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Richard was born in Worcester, January 26, 1941, the son of the late Albert A. and Alice M. (Landry) Gingras. He was raised on Grafton Hill, graduated from Holy Name High School and then joined the U.S. Air Force serving his country as an Air Force Military Policeman. Upon discharge and return home he attended Quinsigamond Community College. Richard worked for various employers before accepting a position with the City of Worcester School department at Belmont Street elementary, Canterbury Community and retiring from Elm Park Community School. 

Richard and Nancy loved spending their winters as “Snowbirds” in Ormond Beach Florida, where they walked the beach, feed the birds, and enjoyed the warmth and sunshine. His most important moments in life, were those spent with family, especially his sons, and grandchildren. He had a huge heart, kind deminer, and gentile smile. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. 

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Tuesday, January 7th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Wednesday, January 8th from the funeral home with a procession to Holy Family/St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St. where his Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am. Entombment next to Nancy in Notre Dame Mausoleum will be held privately. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, Cambridge Park Dr., Cambridge, MA. 02140.
