Richard W. “Foghorn” Harnois, 55, of Worcester, a loving father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, sadly passed too soon at home Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
Born and raised in Worcester, Richard was one of six children of Wilfred and Eunice (Wilson) Harnois. He graduated from Doherty High School and earned his associate degree from Quinsigamond Community College.
Richard, aka “Foghorn,” was known for his love of humanity and punk rock. His ties to a city staple, “Ralph’s Rock Diner,” left him with lifelong friends and memories. Richard cared deeply for others; his kind heart fostered a passion for helping those with disabilities in his work at Seven Hills Foundation, his volunteerism at Genesis Club, and his role as a disability bus monitor for AA Transportation.
Richard loved the beach, especially Nantasket and Good Harbor. He found fun in cycling and joy in music. He had an enormous amount of creativity; he expressed his imagination through cooking and baking. Most of all, Richard loved being with his two sons, Evan and Sam. He was so proud of the young men they have become.
Richard is survived by the two sons he loved, Samuel and Evan; his five siblings, Judy Harnois of Worcester and her companion Earl Dwire, Betty Harnois of Shrewsbury, Edward Harnois of Barre, Donald Harnois and his wife Marie of Worcester, Steven Harnois and his wife Sharon of Spencer; his former wife, Cynthia Cramer; beloved pet cat Blackthorn; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is now at peace with his mother and father.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester, MA.
