Robert J. Cote, 98, of Dudley passed away Friday, September 15th, 2023, after being stricken ill at home. He is welcomed into heaven by his devoted wife, Beverly Ann, daughters, Michele Cote, and Patricia Camosse.
Robert was born June 8, 1925, one of eleven children of Frederick A. and Evelyn M. (Rivers) Cote. He graduated from Commerce High School, joined the U.S. Army serving his country proudly earning the Bronze Star for gallantry in combat and the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in that battle, in the European, African, and Middle eastern theatres. Upon discharge and return home, Bob married the “Love of his life” Beverly Ann Thayer, raising their family with faith, and love until Beverly left his side on September 1, 1990. Bob then married Claire W. Dunbar and lived happily until 2004 when Claire passed.
Bob worked to support his family as a route driver for the AFL-CIO Teamsters local 170, for several trucking companies including Red Star, and Middle Atlantic Transportation before retiring.
Bob is survived by, four children, Elizabeth Goodall and her husband Arthur Breault of Punta Gorda, FL, Michael R. Cote of Bourne: twins, Robert J. Cote and his fiancé, Lisa Cantara of North Brookfield and Richard S. Cote and his fiancé Linda Benson of Clinton; his son-in-law, John Camosse and his daughters Anna and Michelle along with his deceased daughter Patricia with whom he lived with and were his care givers for the past 10 years; grandchildren, Kimberly, Bryan, Stephen, Eric, Joshua, Christopher, Amber, Lisa, Shawn, Michelle, Anna, and Jonathan; 12 and soon to be 13, Great Grandchildren; Many Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents’ his 1st wife Beverly, and second wife Claire, daughters Michelle and Patricia, a grandson Jamie, brothers, Roy, Francis, Walter, Armand, Raymond and Earl Cote and sisters, Viola Allard, Edna Kisten, Doris Moore, and Eunice Lussier, all predeceased him.
Bob was a member of the teamsters Local 170, Worcester Chapter #4 of the DAV, the Charles Minney Post 3329 in Millbury and the Port Charlotte Florida, American Legion Post #110. Bob enjoyed all forms of Motorcycles, muscle cars, the trips to the casino, fishing, camping in Maine, dancing with Beverly the beaches of Maine, and Florida and the weekly Sunday drives to anywhere.
A period of calling hours will be held Friday, September 22nd from9:30 am to 11:00 am followed by a prayer service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial with Military honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the The Center of Hope , 100 Foster Street, Southbridge, Ma. www.thecenterofhope.org
