Robert V. Faia, 75, a longtime resident of Charlton, passed away peacefully January 27th, 2023, surrounded by family.
Robert was born in Revere, the son of Michael A. and Helen (Tartarini) Faia. Raised in greater Boston, Robert graduated from Wentworth Institute and Central New England College acquiring two bachelor’s degrees. He worked as an engineer and later as the Northeast Regional Sales Manager for the Riley Stoker/Babcock Power in Worcester for more than 40 years. He continued his professional career as VP of Power Sales with Helfrich Brothers before retiring. Robert met and married Laurie E. Campbell and began a 46-year life together of love, faith, and family, in Charlton.
Robert is survived by his wife and soulmate, Laurie; his three children, Robert A. Faia of Saugus, Michael E. Faia of Charlton, Julie A. Peloquin and her husband Michael of Spencer; five grandchildren he cherished, Michael, Anthony, Ava, George, and Samuel; two brothers, Ralph Faia Sr. of Everett, Michael Faia Sr. of Orlando; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. His beloved sister, Mildred “Millie” Allen predeceased him.
Robert was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Charlton. He had many accomplishments throughout his life including a U.S. patented invention. He held many professional positions, titles and memberships including Regional Chairman of the Executive Committee of the ASME. He enjoyed golf, cribbage, horseshoes, and fishing. He involved himself in all his children’s local sports as coach and even league board member. Having a passion for sports, he liked to tell the story of hitting three homeruns in one game while playing for the Everett Little League. A devoted husband and father, the greatest moments in his life were those spent with family. The holidays, attending grandchildren activities, special occasions and anytime he could be with family was his joy. With his amazing sense of humor and willingness to help, he touched everyone’s heart and left a lasting impression for all who knew him.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, February 5th from 3 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Monday, February 6th from the funeral home with a procession beginning at 10:30 am to St. Joseph Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd, Charlton where his celebration of Christian burial Mass will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow in Westridge Cemetery, Charlton.
