Robert R Henry

Robert R. "Bob" Henry, 76 of Worcester, a 47 year College of the Holy Cross employee, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 19, 2018.

Bob was born and raised in Worcester, one of three sons of Walter R. and Josephine D. (Marcinkiewicz) Henry.  He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School as an electrician. He then accepted a position as an electrician at the College of the Holy Cross, rising through the ranks over the next 40 years to retire as Facilities and Plant manager for the College Campus.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years this September, Kathleen E. (Spring) Henry; his three beloved children, Robert W. Henry and his wife Jennifer of Northborough, David J. Henry of Worcester, Susan J. Henry and her life partner Andrew Steinbacher of Franklin; a brother, Richard W. Henry of Worcester; five grandchildren, Kevin, Alicia, Jessica, Zachary, and Hannah; four great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  A brother William C. Henry and a great grandson pre deceased him.

A quiet, gentle, and generous man, Bob loved to cook, laugh, and be with and around family and friends. He was a loving, caring husband and father. Bob enjoyed playing music, notably teaching himself to play the guitar, the piano and other instruments.   He also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, but he especially liked Elvis Presley. Bob could always be counted on to keep the music playing during family get togethers. Bob had a great sense of humor, loved to tell jokes, and enjoyed playing pool. He had great pride in his Holy Cross employment and was instrumental in securing and installing the wooden sign adorning the entrance to the College of the Holy Cross.

Although he had been plagued with some health problems over the past few years, Bob carried his burden close to the chest, never complaining.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Monday, July 23rd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.   His funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 24th from the funeral home with a procession to St John’s Church, 44 Temple St where his celebration of Christian Burial Mass will be held at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances his name can be made to the NEADS Service Dog Program, 305 Redemption Rock Trail, Princeton, MA 01541
