Robert W. Krusas, 88 of Worcester, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at UMass Medical Center on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
Robert was born on June 24, 1936 in Worcester, a son of the late Alphonse and Anna (Domeika) Krusas. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and later earned an associates degree from Quinsigamond Community College. Robert served his country in the United States Navy from 1957-1961 before he was honorably discharged. He worked as a police officer for 34 years at the Worcester Police Department in the traffic division motorcycle scout, retiring in 2000.
Robert loved to golf and was a member of the WPD Golf League at Heritage Golf Course and the Elks Golf League at Clearview Golf Course. He was also a member of the Worcester Order of the Elks Lodge on Mill Street and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to Hampton Beach, playing the slots at the casino but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan P. (Steele) Krusas; two sons, Robert W. Krusas, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Spencer and Kevin Krusas and his wife Maria, and their two children, Kevin C., and Caterina Krusas of Worcester; a brother, John Krusas and his significant other Lauri of West Patterson, NJ; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Robert’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors from UMass Medical Center, 3 Lakeside stepdown unit for the outstanding care and compassion given to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. His services will be held on Tuesday, July 16th with a procession from the funeral home to St. Bernard’s Church at Our Lady of Providence Parish, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105
