Robert Edward Loy, 84, of Worcester, formerly of Wading River, Long Island, and Hudson, Florida, passed away in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, surrounded by loving family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of nearly forty-six years, Elizabeth A. (Carni) Loy; six children, Robert Loy, Jr. of Ridge, NY, Michael D. Carni of Copaigue, NY, Donna Loy Murino of Moriches, NY, Deborah P. Mazza-Scanlon and her husband John Scanlon, with whom he lived, Theresa Schultz of Mattituck, NY, and Linda Bacchi and her husband Carl of Onley, VA; fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Robert was born in Amityville, NY, son of the late, William and Edith (Williams) Loy and was one of nine children. He grew up on Long Island in the Town of Belmore. He served his nation proudly during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy.
Robert was an electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 25 on Long Island for over 50 years. He loved to golf and was a member of the Heritage Pines Country Club in Hudson, Florida. He loved to read and was an amazing joke and story teller. His smile was infectious, and some say should be patented. He was a true gentleman and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love him.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday, June 10, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, June 11, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester.
A Funeral Mass on Long Island, will be celebrated on Monday, June 17, at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Church, 1488 Country Road, Wading River, NY; followed by interment with Military Funeral Honors at 12:30 p.m. at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY 11933.
