Robert M Mastis

Robert M. Mastis, 88, of Worcester, MA passed away on January 4, 2023 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, after a period of declining health.  He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Ryan) Mastis and loving father of Bryan Mastis (Chie) and Kimberly Mastis (Christopher Meola); cherished grandfather of Jin, Matthew, Christopher, and Caelyn.  He also leaves a special nephew, Jason and brother-in-law, Robert Ryan.

Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY to Matthew and Mae (Stehle) Mastis. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from New York Universitiy. Upon graduation he worked for Stauffer Chemical, Dobbs Ferry, NY as Lead Chemical Engineer where he remained for over 25 years.  After retirement he also worked as the Assistant Director at Katonah Community Center from 2001-2007.

He cherished time spent with his family. Many summers were enjoyed on the beach in Montauk, NY, on cruises with family, or lounging in the backyard by his pool.  Fondly known as Bob “I-don’t-miss-a-meal” Mastis, he enjoyed good food. He also enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, and painting in his later years.  Most importantly, he treasured his role as “PopPop” and the company of his grandchildren.

Friends may call on the family on Saturday, January 14 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester.  Bob’s funeral service will be held following the visitation at 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
