Robert "Rab" M. Copper

Robert “Rab” M. Copper, 64, of Oxford Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday July 20, 2023.

Rab was born in Worcester to John and Mary (Barone) Copper. He was a graduate of Burncoat High School and Mount Wachusett Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminology. He was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers, Local 7, formerly Local 57, for his entire career.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Tammy (Hokanson) Copper and his daughter, Danielle Ruth and her husband Joseph of Dudley; his son, Robert (RJ) Copper of Oxford; three beloved grandchildren he adored, Delaney, Grey, and Ella; two sisters, Barbara Sachs and her husband Denis of Northborough, and Judith Colecchi, of Webster; a brother,  Stephen Copper and his partner Cris Sabaten, of Shrewsbury;  his mother-in- law, Carol (Naoum) O’Berg; sister in law, Patricia Hokanson, of Oxford; brother-in-law Robert Hokanson and his wife Elizabeth of Worcester; brother-in-law, Michael Gingerelli of Webster; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lisa Gingerelli of Worcester, and nephew Michael Hokanson-Dion of Oxford.

Rab was a hardworking, dedicated family man with a generous heart and big personality. He was loyal to family and friends and would do anything for anyone. He filled our lives with life, lots of laughter, and stories that we’ll cherish forever. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

Calling Hours will be on Monday, July 24, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  His Funeral will be on Tuesday, July 25, departing the funeral home at 10:10 a.m. in procession to a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
