Robert O. "Papa" Warfield, 84, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert is survived by the love of his life and wife of nearly sixty-four years, Carol A. (Goyette) Warfield; their three daughters, Lynne Chrostowski and her husband Edmund of Worcester, Donna McFarland and her husband Sean of New York City, and Sherrie Couillard and her husband Michael of Dracut; two sisters, Rita Freedman of Spencer and Sheila Ewing of Wasilla, Alaska; eight grandchildren, Cheri Brangiforte and her spouse Dana of Revere, Chad Chrostowski of Worcester, Chelsea DeMiles and her spouse Dana of Boxford; Sean W. McFarland of New Jersey, Robert McFarland of North Carolina, Seton McFarland of New York City, Paige Costarella and her spouse Zac of Pequea, PA, and Wesley Couillard and his spouse Molly of Nashua, NH; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amanda Couillard, and by two brothers, Wesley and Richard Warfield. Robert was born in Worcester, son of the late Wesley B. and Rita (LaFlamme) Warfield and has lived in Worcester all his life.
Robert was known for his work in the tile industry as a salesman, professional tile setter, and owner of Shrewsbury Tile. He was also an entrepreneur, having owned several other businesses including TJ Cinnamons, The Rose Garden nightclub on Whalom Lake, and Kaufman Carpet.
He was a member of Saint John’s Church, and was an avid archer and hunter, he voraciously read books by Louie L’amour, and won several Golden Gloves boxing awards prior to meeting his wife Carol. He loved his dogs and was utterly devoted to his family.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Calling Hours on Thursday, May 27, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Friday, May 28, with a Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
