Roger L. Duval, 69, passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2024. Roger was born and raised in Worcester, one of six children born to Roger H. and Flora M. Duval. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School, and Worcester State College, with a B.S., in Mathematics, and was most recently in a degree program at Clark University for Computer Science.
He is survived by his loving wife MaryEllen and their two children Brian Duval, of Worcester, and Meaghan Redmond and her husband Patrick Redmond, of Hubbardston, and his five siblings, Janine B. Adams and her husband George Adams, Lauren M. Duval, Anne-Marie Nystedt and her husband Paul D. Nystedt, Monique C. Duval and her husband Mamadou A. Niang, all of Worcester, and his sister Andrea Duval Moran and her husband John E. Moran, of Dedham, as well as his grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Roger worked for many years in Information Technology. He worked in both the Corporate and Non-Profit world; predominantly at Data General, Digital, Hewlett-Packard and finally the Seven Hills Foundation. He always took great pride in his work, but enjoyed his work at Seven Hills most of all.
Roger ran the Boston Marathon three times, and the Newport Marathon twice, as well as having run multiple 5k and 10k races. He enjoyed playing racquetball, hiking in the White Mountains, Rutland State Park, and Mt. Wachusett with his wife MaryEllen and their dog Sasha. He rode crew for Worcester State College and later in life rode crew for the “Killer Bees.”
Roger never missed any of his son Brian’s practices or games, from Brian’s Little League years to his college days. He also coached his daughter Meaghan’s softball league, and later they coached Joe Schwartz Little League together.
His favorite pastimes were Sudoku, jigsaw puzzles and watching the Red Sox and movies, with his 91-year-old Mother-In-Law, Rita. He was at his most happy spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Waylin and Emma.
