Ronald G. Goulet, 91 of Worcester, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed peacefully at home on March 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born on May 25, 1933, in Worcester, one of two sons of the late Arthur J. and Kathleen B. (Galvin) Goulet. He attended Worcester Public Schools, and was a graduate of Commerce High School, class of 1952. He later earned his associates degree from Worcester Junior College. Ron spent his professional career as a purchasing agent and buyer for various local manufacturing companies before retiring from Acumeter Laboratories. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and the Knights of Columbus Pope John XXIII, where he earned the distinct honor of Fourth Degree Knight.
Ron was a man who always carried a song in his heart and on the tip of his tongue. Music was part of who he was. His joyful spirit and love of life were infectious, and he always knew how to brighten any room with a song. He was a true hopeless romantic and shared so many songs with lyrics that held true meaning, and he never forgot to remind you of his Irish heritage.
Ron had many passions. He was a sports enthusiast, avid cribbage player, enjoyed bowling, sharing his famous basketball moves, sports stories and singing old time music. He always found the good in everyone and every situation. He took pride in his family and tried to be involved in everything they did. You could find him in the stands or right field, coaching along the games. He enjoyed his daily visits to Friendly’s on Grafton St and was doted on by the staff. He enjoyed Sunday drives, recent summers in Hull, and sharing stories of growing up on Grafton Hill with his buddies.
Ron is survived by his beloved five daughters, Kathleen A. Lee and her husband William of Worcester, Karen J. Ryder and her husband John of Plymouth, Debra M. Wooldridge and her husband Carl of Charlton, Denise M. Whipple and former son-in-law Bernard of Millbury and Patricia E. Padilla and her husband Gerald of Worcester with whom he lived with for many years; nine grandchildren, Meggan and Aimee Lee, Sean Ryder, Colleen Croak, Brian Ryder, Cori Simoes, Nicole Patel, Daniel and Joseph Padilla; eleven great grandchildren with three on the way. He is predeceased by a brother, Arthur W. Goulet.
