Ronald Baxter Johnson, USAF, RET., 87, from New Bedford MA Ronald was formerly from Worcester, and passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, in Sun City, Florida.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Margaret (Crook) Johnson; three daughters, Cassie Johnson Gosselin and her husband Robert of Plymouth, JoAnn Bobick of Boylston, and Rhonda-Lee Johnson Dudley and her husband Dean of Oxford; a brother, Robert Johnson in Florida; two sister, Margaret Krukowski of Charlton MA, and Bonnie Greenwood of Auburn; four grandchildren, Sheena Roberts, Heather Dwinell, Erin Maclean, and Ashley Excel Gosselin; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Two step daughters Susan Ferguson and husband Dale of New Bedford, Sharon Alves, and Brenda Macedo (deceased) and 3 grandsons Scott Ferguson, Evan Macendo and Jonathan Macendo. Step Son in law, Thomas Macedo and wife Dr. Judith Miesner.
His first wife, Carol A. (Curnin) Johnson predeceased him in 2005. He was also predeceased by four siblings, Warren Johnson, Jr., Eleanor Johnson, Walter Johnson, and Michael Bird. Ronald was born in Worcester, son of the late, Warren and Edna (May) Johnson.
Ronald served in the United States Air Force for over twenty years and was an airplane mechanic and inspector. He, along with his family, lived throughout the United States and abroad, as he was stationed in different locations over the years. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 as a Master Sergeant.
Following his military retirement, Ronald worked as an air conditioning installer for Thermo Engineering in Worcester. When he “retired” to Florida, he worked as the park manager where he was living. He was very proud of his military service. He was known to many as a “Mr. Fix-It”, he enjoyed camping, travel “The Wonder of It All”, and had a great sense of humor. There was nothing that brought him greater joy than his family; he loved to be surrounded by his children and grand and great grandchildren.
Family and Friends are invited to join his family for a Tribute to His Life on Tuesday, March 22, from 9:30 a.m. until a Prayer Service begins at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
