Ronald LaFerriere

January 3, 1935 — December 25, 2018

Ronald E. La Ferriere, 80, of Auburn passed away Christmas Day, December 25th 2018 after a brief period of declining health.  

Ronald was born in Worcester, the son of Ernest and Eunice (Mercier) LaFerriere.  Raised in Holden, Ronald graduated from Wachusett Regional High School and joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country proudly during the Korean War.   In 1966, Ronald married the “Love of his Life” Philomena “Phyllis” Zannotti.  Together, over the next 30 years, they raised their children in Leicester and Worcester until 1996, when Phyllis passed away.   Ronald, worked for Rand-Whitney Container Corporation, as a Managing Designer, 36 years before retiring.

 Ronald is survived by three children, Gerald Cross and his wife Elaine of Worcester, Lynne Cross with whom he lived and Teresa Simone; a grandson; nieces, nephews and extended family members.  His sister, Sharron Vaudreuil pre-deceased him. 

 Ronald was a dedicated father, friend, and an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting the woods of Maine and elsewhere. Good with his hands he enjoyed carpentry and woodworking.  Ronald was only too happy to help friends with construction projects and often volunteered his free time in helping fellow Veterans. Ronald was a proud patriot and longtime member of the American Legion:  Quinsigamond Post 318 where he served as Post Commander, Millbury VFW and Auburn Sportsman’s Club. 

 A graveside service with Military honors will be held Friday, January 4th, 2018 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of the Ascension, at Notre Dame Mausoleum, 163 Webster St.  Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to
