Ronald C. Mikelonis

March 25, 1949 — December 20, 2024

Middletown, RI.

Ronald C. Mikelonis, 75, of Middletown, R.I., formerly of Rutland, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 20th, 2024, after succumbing to a lifetime of health challenges.

Ronald was born in Worcester, one of four children of the late, Charles A. and Jennie T. (Festa) Mikelonis. Raised in Worcester, Ronald attended Classical High School and graduated from Doherty High. He then graduated from Central New England College of Technology with a degree in Engineering. Ronald then began a career in construction as a project estimator for several companies, including Bond Brothers and Goodman Associates. In 1973, Ronald married the “Love of his life” and best friend, Deborah L. Johnson, spending the next 51 years dedicated to each other where they built a loving home and a legacy of family values that will live on for generations.

Ronald is survived by his love, Deborah; three children he cherished and was so proud of, Tara Christiansen and her husband Raymond of Pompano Beach, Florida, Amy Davis and her husband Steven of Sterling, Todd Mikelonis and his wife Lauren of Roslindale; four grandchildren he adored, Nolan, Maxwell, Aurora, and Eli; two brothers, Michael Mikelonis of Whitinsville and Bruce Mikelonis of Oakham; a sister, Jean Mikelonis of Worcester, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends as well as his grand dogs which he enjoyed so much, Rocco and Freddie. In addition to his parents, a sister-in-law, Marion Mikelonis, also predeceased him.

Living with diabetes for over 59 years, Ron was Joslin’s Hero as a proud recipient of the Joslin Diabetes Center 50-year medalist. Ron and Deb loved living near the beach and were often found together surrounded by family and friends at either at second or third beach in Middletown, RI. They also enjoyed traveling, especially cruising, where they saw many parts of the world. Ron was passionate about construction, a trait he shared with his children and grandchildren, as he helped countless family and friends construct and renovate their homes. An avid sports enthusiast, he played golf as long as he could and enjoyed the Red Sox through the summer months. A special thank you to the medical staff at Beth Israel Deaconess, Mass General, Encompass Health, and HopeHealth Hulitar.
