Ronald H. Stake

Ronald H. Stake, 86, of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at UMass Hospital in Worcester.  His loving wife, Maureen D. (Sheehan) Stake, predeceased him on July 17, 2023.  

Ronald is survived by six children, Ronald Stake, of Marengo, Ohio, Donald Sinnery and wife Joanne, of Milford, Donna Kaliszewski and husband John, of Auburn, Robert Stake and wife Judy, of Worcester, Debra Caruso and husband Harold, of South Carolina, and David Sinnery and wife Suzanne, of Fitchburg; a brother, Richard Stake and his wife Marjorie of Jensen Beach, FL; a sister, Margaret Crittenden of Tappahannock, VA; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He was tragically predeceased by a grandson, Ronald D. Stake, Jr. in May 2021.  He was also predeceased by four siblings, Herbert Stake, Jr., Edward Stake, John Stake and Gail Stake.

Ronald was born in Worcester, son of the late, Herbert and Gladys I. (Partridge) Stake.  He grew up in the Quinsigamond Village section of Worcester, later moving to Shrewsbury before settling in Auburn in 1978.  He served his nation proudly in the United States Navy, during the Korean Conflict.

He was a propane salesman for many years, retiring form Osterman Propane.  He was a member of the Olive Branch Lodge of Masons and was extremely proud of his military service.  He will be remembered as a great man with a great sense of humor, and a readiness to tell stories.  He will also be remembered and admired for his meticulous care of his home and yard. 

Calling Hours will be on Friday, December 22, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in MERCANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
