Rose Canzano

Rose (Morris) Canzano, 96, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph E. Canzano, in April 2007.

Rose is survived by her loving children, Gerald J. Canzano and his wife Cricket of Valparaiso, IN, Donna A. Giroux of Groton, and Nancy Paquette and her partner Jack Thompson of Spencer, with whom she lived with for the past six years; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; her dear friend and roommate at rehab, Lonnie; nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister Jean Carlson.  Born in Easthampton, daughter of the late, Jeremiah and Mary (Zidonis) Morris, her family moved to Worcester while she was an infant.  She graduated from Commerce High School and has lived most of her life here.

Rose was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church.  She enjoyed caring for her family, playing cards and BINGO, and will be remembered for the many afghans she crocheted for her grandchildren and friends. 

Rose dedicated her life to caring for her family and it is with that in mind that her family wishes to thank the wonderful “angels” at Summit Eldercare and Southbridge Rehab, for providing Rose with care and compassion.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, January 2, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Her Funeral will be on Thursday, January 3, departing the funeral home in procession at 9:40 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road (Route 9 East), Shrewsbury.  Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
