Rose M. (Docimo) Christy, 85 of Worcester, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at UMass Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Rose was born in Worcester, one of eleven children to the late Italian immigrants Frank and Michelina (Protano) Docimo, A resident of Worcester all her life, she was a graduate of Commerce High School. Rose worked in the human resource department at Worcester State Hospital for 28 years before she retired in 2015. She also worked as a waitress part-time at Leo’s Ristorante. Rose was a devout and faithful member of Bethany Gospel Chapel and donated much of her kindness to the church and her fellow members and was also a member of the Silver Sneaker Exercise Club. She was a kind and giving person at heart. Rose put a roof over anyone who was in need and took care of them. She loved cooking, knitting and most of all she loved spending time with her large family.
Rose’s husband of 37 years, Andrew S. Christy passed away in 1997. She is survived by her five children, Steven Christy and his wife Lori of Millbury, Francis Christy and his wife Lisa of Rutland, Athena (Maria) Christy of Worcester, Nicholas Christy of Wareham and John Christy and his wife Brandy of Worcester; ten beloved grandchildren, Kevin Christy of Cotati, CA., Liana Christy of Chelsea, MA., Nicholas Christy and Evander Christy both of Worcester, Olivia Christy Cowan and her husband Jacob of Union, CT., Chandler Christy of Worcester, Steven Christy of Sutton, Mekenzie Christy of Woonsocket, RI, Andreus Christy of East Providence, RI and Jared Christy of Worcester; five sisters, Carol Camarra, Diane Walsh and her husband Daniel, Judy Docimo, Jean Docimo all of Worcester, and Barbara Godek and her husband Joseph of Auburn; three brothers, James Docimo of Worcester, Robert Docimo and his wife Barbara of Auburn and Richard Docimo and his wife Elaine of West Brookfield; a brother-in-law, Matteo Fiore of Worcester; several, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by two sisters, Joanne Fiore and Jane Docimo; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Allen) Docimo; a brother-in-law, Timothy Camarra.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 9-11:30 am with her funeral service to begin at 11:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
