Rose Marie Toohey

Rose Marie (Festa) Toohey, 80 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by her loving family.

Rose Marie was born in Worcester, the daughter to the late Joseph and Congetta “Connie” (Guinto) Festa. She grew up in Worcester where she graduated from Commerce High School. Rose Marie worked at the former EM Lowe’s, the Big D and as a secretary for the family business Plywood Plus. Her greatest job was being a beloved wife, mother and grandmother affectionately known as “Mina.” Rose Marie loved cooking and was famous for her homemade pizza during holidays and special occasions. She also enjoyed regular trips to the casino alongside her husband.

Rose Marie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward J. Toohey; their three children, Cheryl Lavin and her husband Michael, David Toohey and his wife Kim, and Paul Toohey and his wife Amy all of Worcester; her brother, John Festa and his wife Sophia; four grandchildren, Matthew Lavin and his wife Gretchen, Megan Lavin, AJ Toohey and Alaina Toohey; a great grandchild, Emilia Lavin; many nieces and nephews.

Rose Marie’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at UMass Medical Center and Rose Monahan Hospice Home for the outstanding care and compassion they gave her during her time of need.

Services for Rose Marie will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester to Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 11th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
