Rose M. (Rana) Oliver, 95, of Auburn, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family on Friday, December 24, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas A. Oliver in 1988; she was also predeceased by her daughter, Francine Stuart, granddaughter, Angel Stuart, and by her first husband, Peter Waitkus.
Rose is survived by her brother, Maurice Rana of Worcester; two grandsons, Paul Stuart of Auburn and John Stuart and his wife Stephanie of Charlton; two great grandchildren, Tyler A. Stuart (the apple of her eye) and his girlfriend, Merritt Coscia of New Orleans, and Jenna Heguys and her husband José of Leicester; three great-great grandchildren, Jules Oliver Stuart, Sophia and Kimberly Heguys; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by five siblings, Adeline Riccio, Frank, Domenic, Michael, and Nicholas Rana. Rose was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, John B. and Frances (Faccenda) Rana. She graduated from Commerce High School and later moved to the Boston area, before returning to Worcester to raise her family.
Rose worked as a bookkeeper and manager at the former Rexford Drug in Mattapan. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Our Lady of Loreto Parish, the Catholic Daughters of America, Friends of Mount Carmel, the Golden Years Club, Our Lady of Sorrows, Sons of Italy Lodge 168, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 201 American Legion.
Rose loved to be surrounded by her family, especially during the holidays. She will be remembered as a great cook and her “feast of fishes” will be missed every Christmas Eve.
Calling Hour will be on Wednesday, December 29, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be on Thursday, December 30 from the funeral home, departing in procession at 9:40 a.m. to a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
