Rose (Santarufo) Turco

November 20, 1920 — November 27, 2018

Rose Marie (Santarufo) Turco, 98, ascended to her final resting place on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 after a brief illness at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA.  As the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Paladino) Santarufo, she was born in Worcester, MA where with her husband, Henry C. Turco, she resided for many years.  Following this, they ventured to make Ogunquit, Maine their retirement home.

Rose was a graduate of the former Commerce High School and after raising her family became a sales associate at the prior Filenes in Worcester cultivating a sense of fashion and meeting interesting people for 32 years.  She also worked for the Town of Ogunquit, was active in the Wells/Ogunquit Senior Center and was a talented amateur artist.  However, second to her family, her great love was the beautiful sea bordering Ogunquit. 

Rose is predeceased by her husband, Henry of 59 years, her son, Robert A. Turco, a son-in-law, Kenneth P. Arena, her sister, Mary Ann Feraco and brothers, James, Patrick and Thomas.

She was the unselfish mother of Marie T. wife of Albert N. Cecchini of Holden, MA and Frances E. Arena of Winchester, MA formerly of West Boylston. She was cherished by her grandchildren, Lisa Fallavollita, Craig Cecchini, Jeffrey Arena, and Robert, Jonathan and Eric Turco and delighted in her great-grandchildren Christina, Alexander, and Teresa Fallavollita, Audrey Lee Arena, and Vieo Turco.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a period of respect Friday, November 30th from 10:00 am to 11:15 am in Our lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd. Worcester.  Her Celebration of Christian burial Mass will follow at 11:30 am.  Burial next to her husband will follow in St John Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s name can be made to Our Lady of Loreto Parish, 33 Massasoit Rd, Worcester, The Marginal Way Preservation Fund, PO Box 1455, Ogunquit, Maine, 03907 or a charity of one’s choice.  The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements
