Rose (Mastrototoro) Zannotti, 90, a longtime Shrewsbury resident passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones she loved Monday, May 8th, 2023, which would have been her 68th wedding anniversary.
Rose was born in Worcester, the daughter of Italian immigrants Leonardo and Angela (DiBennedetto) Mastrototoro. She grew up in the family home on Caprera Road, off Shrewsbury Street, met and married Julio Zannotti. They moved to Shrewsbury, where they raised their family for over 50 years. Julio passed away in 1991 and Rose continued to guide her family to this day.
She is survived by her four children, Leonard W. Zannotti and his life partner Theresa Karns of Sutton, Mark P. Zannotti, and his wife Dina Kozlowski-Zannotti, Angela R. Zannotti-Schwartz of Westboro, Robert J. Zannotti and his wife Karima of Shrewsbury; six grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Robert, Christopher, James, Julia, Justin and Aaron; two great grandchildren, Adelynn and Finnley; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Two brothers, Dominic “Dimo” and Peter Mastrototoro, and a sister, Lena Chioda predeceased her.
Rose was a longtime active member of the Christ Baptist Church in Worcester. She was the matriarch of her family and remained devoted to them all her life.
A period of calling hours will be held Friday, May 12th from 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, followed by her funeral service at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Christ Baptist Church, 34 Granby Rd. 01604.
