Rosemarie A. Burton

January 27, 1927 — August 27, 2021

Rosemarie Ann (Cursi) Burton, 94, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 27, 2021, at The Lutheran Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester.  Her beloved husband, George F. Burton, predeceased her in 2006. She never stopped saying how much she missed him.

Rosemarie is survived by her loving family, including a son, George F. Burton Jr. of Worcester; four daughters, Sharon Cosenza Boucher and her husband Brad of Worcester, Cathy DiPilato and her husband Anthony of Worcester, Lisa Robinson of Brookfield, Laurie Black of Sutton; a brother, Robert Cursi of Shrewsbury; three sisters, Dorothy Bisceglia of Shrewsbury, Anamae Pats and Lucille Giangregorio, both of Worcester; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two beloved granddaughters, Kayla Rose Black and Ceara Marie Robinson.  Born in Worcester, daughter of the late Nazzareno “Manuel” and Rita (Basilissa) Cursi and has lived here all her life.

After marrying in 1950, Rosemarie and George raised their five children in a loving and active home. Suppers around the dinner table were a highlight of the day. Mom was a fabulous cook and so often dad would remark “you outdid yourself this time hun!”  Summer outings to Nantasket Beach are a favorite memory for all and a long-time family tradition.  Holiday gatherings were special times for mom, and she insisted we all be there.  She was happiest when the whole family was together at the same time. Christmas at Mom and Dad’s was the best!

Before marriage and children, Rosemarie worked for many years as a talented and accomplished upholstery stitcher.  She loved dancing and was usually the first one on and last one off the dance floor.  She loved music and it was common to hear her singing away to this day.

Rosemarie was vibrant and always full of life. She laughed easily and had a great smile.  And if mom was around, you knew it!  Mom has left us with many fond memories which I am sure we will share with each other for years to come. We will miss her dearly.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

The family extends sincere thanks to all the staff at the Lutheran Home (including Private Duty Aide Florence Marra) and special loving gratitude to the second-floor staff for their exceptional and compassionate, professional and patient care they provided our mom.

We would also like to thank in a special way, mom’s very first private duty caregiver, Melissa Debenham. She was a blessing to my mom and to our family. She provided my mom with loving care as well as activity and friendship.

Calling hours will be Wednesday September 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA, followed by a funeral procession from the funeral home to an 11:oo a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester.  Interment beside her beloved George will follow the mass at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
