September 6, 1945 — March 13, 2020

Sandra S. (Mastromatteo) Sposato, 74 of Worcester passed away surrounded by the ones she loved in her home Friday, March 13, 2020.

Sandra was born in Worcester, one of four children of the late, Lawrence Mastromatteo Sr., and Madeline C. (Ryan) Mastromatteo.  She graduated from Commerce High School, raised on the eastside of Worcester and in 1965, married her love and best friend for the next 51 years;  Robert “Bob” Sposato. Shortly after they married and on land owned by family on Harrington Way, they established, founded and nourished “Sposato’s” Flower Shop and Greenhouse companies for many years.  Their dedication, daily routine and concern for their customers satisfaction were the most important parts of what made Sposato’s such a fixture for over 51 years before retiring and turning the company over to their son Bob, Jr.   Sandy also worked for over ten years in the administration of Tufts University

Sandy’s husband Bob passed away September 23, 2016. She is survived by her dedicated children and their families; Lori S. Lonchiadis and her husband James,  Robert P. Sposato, Jr. and his wife Rosemary, Cindy S. O’Keefe and her husband Thomas, all of Worcester, Angelo “Tony” Sposato and his wife Kathleen of Sturbridge; fourteen grandchildren she cherished and so enjoyed having them around and watching them grow; Lauren Rose, Matteo, Lisa, Marialaina, Bianca, Robert III, Zachary, Cassie, Angelo, Luca, James, William, Zachary and Hailey; two great grandchildren, Evie and Easton. her brother Lawrence “Junior” Mastromatteo of Worcester; sister, Carol A. Caputo of Mission Vejo, California; Many nieces, nephews extended family and friends. Besides her parents and husband Bob, a brother, Leo and pet poodle “Charlie” predeceased her.

Being a florist, Sandra and Bob’s yard, garden and pool area were impeccably maintained and magazine quality.  She also had special family moments in her life that she looked forward to; Sunday family dinners at their home were also family time of laughter and smiles and welcoming to everyone.  Sandra also enjoyed traveling, to their home in the White Mountains in North Conway, where Bob and Sandy would rest, relax and make frequent trips with grandchildren to “Story Land”.   Sandy could also be found playing bingo, the occasional trip to the casino or just lounging in the backyard.

The Sposato family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Saint Vincent Cancer center and the Jewish Healthcare for the care, comfort and compassion during a difficult time.

Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours Monday, March 16th from 9 am to 11 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  Her funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial next to Bob will follow in St. John Cemetery.
