Shantel Heywood, 43, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away from a long battling illness surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Shantel was the beloved daughter of Oheneba Agyemang and Clarice (Richardson) Agyemang. She worked as a Personal Care Attendant for Home Health Care Associates, dedicating her life to helping others.
Shantel is survived by her devoted husband of 12 years, Ishmael T. Heywood; her children, Zeshoun Prince, Ziyona Prince, and Zangel Boakye; her cherished grandson, Zaydenne; her parents, mother Clarice (Richardson) Agyemang, her father Oheneba K. Agyemang ;her siblings, predeceased by Erick Anthony Richardson, Heath Richardson, Shereese Agyemang, Sheena Agyemang, Shenekua Agyemang, George Agyemang, Jason Agyemang, Sheriff Agyemang, Oheneba Agyemang Jr. & Rusty Lee Agyemang. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Shadee Richardson, Heath Richardson Jr., and Shanell Richardson, as well as many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
Shantel will be remembered as a kindhearted woman with a radiant smile. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who found joy in cooking, singing, traveling, and spending time with family. A faithful member of the Christian Life Center, she especially loved reggae and gospel music.
Family and friends are invited to honor Shantel’s life during calling hours on Wednesday, November 20, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A funeral service will follow, with burial at Massachusetts Veterans’ Cemetery. Shantel’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed but never forgotten. .
