Sharon (Shaw) Whitenett, 68 of Worcester passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 5th 2018.
Sharon was raised in Athol, the youngest daughter of Alexander Shaw, Jr. and Evelyn (Burwood) Shaw. She graduated from Athol High School before moving to Worcester to raise her family. Sharon worked for 24 years as a bookkeeper at Camosse Masonry Supply in Worcester.
Sharon is survived by her two loving children, Renee L. Whitenett and her wife Laura Barry of Rutland and Richard R. Whitenett and his wife Allison of Worcester. Sharon had five beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, Brian, Abigail and Amelia. She also leaves two sisters, Jean Shaw Codding of Zephyrhills Florida and Kathleen A. Shaw of Barre, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Richard E Shaw.
Sharon was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time with family and friends, hosting dinners, traveling, and especially summer vacations at Hampton Beach. She proudly spent countless hours watching her children play ball at Jack Barry Little League. Sharon was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and believed that faith, family and friends were the most important aspects of her life. Sharon had room in her heart for everyone she met. She was very generous with her love, time and resources, and helped anyone she could.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Wednesday, May 9th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Thursday, May 10th from the funeral home beginning at 9:30 with a procession to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. where her celebration of life Mass will be held at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery in Athol. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
