12/24/1944 - 2/11/2024

Sheila L. (Hunt) Rosenblatt of Worcester passed away peacefully, Sunday February 11, 2024 with her loving family by her side.

She leaves behind her “chosen” daughter Molly Richards and her husband, Robbie of Worcester MA; a step-daughter Ruth Rosenblatt and her husband George Cooke of Newton, MA and her granddaughter Frances Cooke. She also leaves behind her dogs Sadie Mae and

Lucy along with her two birds, Scooter and Screech. She was the loving wife to the late Bernard P. Rosenblatt of Worcester. Sheila was born on December 24, 1944 in Hampstead, Maryland, daughter of the late George Hunt and Estella (Smith) Spurrier.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Maryland, Sheila moved to Worcester, Massachusetts in 1966 to complete a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology at Clark University.  Her career as a licensed clinical psychologist began at the former Worcester Children’s Friend Society in the 1970s until she formally retired as the Clinical Director in 2002. She continued to provide behavioral health services for another 20 years at Children's Friend, now an affiliate at Seven Hills Foundation. Throughout her tenure, Sheila treated countless children and their families, mentored and trained scores of psychologists, social workers, educators, and mental health counselors. She provided leadership in an agency whose mission to improve the lives of children and those who love them informed her professional and personal life. She also maintained a private psychotherapy practice for more than thirty years.

Sheila valued being surrounded by her animals along with watching Molly and Frances grow since their births. Sheila enjoyed attending weekly “Diva Night” with work friends who became best friends over the course of 40 years. Sheila loved sitting on the porch of her summer home for the past 40+ years in Wellfleet, MA reading books and shopping on Commercial St. in Provincetown, MA. She will be remembered for her numerous awards, accolades and work over 50 years, her wisdom, knowledge, love, care and wonderful fashion style.

Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the CCU Department at UMASS Memorial, Belmont St. Worcester, for their work, support, care and love.

A celebration of life for Sheila will be held at her home in Worcester, MA, Summer 2024.
