Sidney Leroy Colby Sr, known to many as Sid, passed away on April 1, 2024, in Webster, Massachusetts, at the age of 84. He was a hardworking and family-devoted man who found humor in sarcasm.
Sid leaves his beloved wife, Sheila M. (Burbo) Colby; six children, Sidney Colby, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Spencer, Michael Colby of Worcester, James Scott of Webster, Eddie Colby of Oxford, Mary Colby and her fiancé Brian McMahon with whom he lived, and Shawn Colby and his wife Kimberly of Springfield; three brothers, Ira Colby, Jr. and John Colby, both of Worcester and Bobby Colby of Westborough; two sisters, Charlene Langlois of Leicester and Maryjane Colby of Georgia; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Charles Colby in 2015. He was also predeceased by five sisters, Anna Letendress, Carrie Colby, Ida McCormick, Gloria Colby, and Pat Richards.
Sid worked for many years as a box spring and mattress assembler for the former Best Rest Mattress Company in Worcester. He was an avid bowler and belonged to several leagues at the Auburn Ten Pin. He loved being outside, smoking a good cigar, fishing, or enjoying the solace of a nice long walk.
A ceremony to honor and remember Sid's life will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street in Worcester.
Sid will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his family, with whom he enjoyed being with. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
