Susana (Caraballo) Alberty, 89, of Albion, Rhode Island, formerly of Holyoke MA, Danielson CT, and Palm Bay Florida, passed away Saturday, July 20th, 2024. Susana was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Eladio Caraballo, Jr. and Lucilda (Martinez) Caraballo.
She is survived by her daughter, Claribel Alves and her husband Daniel Alves; her son, Raul Alberty; her brother, Rene Caraballo, her two sisters, Josephine Caraballo and Eladia LaBoy. Leaving behind a granddaughter; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and daughter Edmee, three brothers, Benjamin, George and Efrain Caraballo, and her sister, Hilda Gonzales.
Susana was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them throughout her life. She loved to sew, cook family dinners and spend time with family and friends. She truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important and made room in her life for everyone.
While raising three children, she successfully earned notable educational accomplishments; an associate’s degree in business from Holyoke Community College, Bachelor’s degree in Human services (Sociology) from the New Hampshire College and her Master’s degree in Human services (Psychology) from AIC in Springfield. With these degree’s she led a life of service to those in need through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Transitional Assistance, retiring as Director of Policy and Procedures in Boston, MA. While retired she remained active in her community and local politics. She served on the Board for the Red Cross, Savers Corporation and the United Way. She was a volunteer for the Palm Bay Florida Police Department and at the local Hospital Emergency Room.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, August 10th from 12:30 to 2:30 pm, with a funeral service thereafter, at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St in Worcester, MA. Burial will be held at 12:30 pm in the Notre Dame Cemetery on Monday, August 12th. begining at 11:30 from the funeral home traveling in procession.
