Sylvia A. (Silverio) Payne passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old. Sylvia was born on March 22nd 1936 in Lynn, MA, daughter of Joseph and Olga Silverio.
Sylvia graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester MA. She was a medical records coordinator at UMass Medical Center for most of her career before retiring in 1998. She spent 10 years living in Sarasota, FL where she loved to spend time at Siesta Key Beach. She always welcomed friends and family to come stay with her and loved having company. Sylvia moved back to Massachusetts to be close to her family as her health became more fragile. Sylvia was a great conversationalist and loved following the Patriots and Red Sox. She was a stellar cook known for her famous sauce and meatballs. The most important thing in life for Sylvia was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Nonna to her grandchildren. Sylvia spent the last year of her life living with her beloved daughter Lynne Brissette and her husband James Brissette in Sturbridge, MA. Sylvia was a fantastic mother and grandmother and taught us all what family is all about. Sylvia will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Sylvia is survived by her three children, Robert Payne and his wife Shannon of Holland, MA, Lynne Brissette and her husband James of Sturbridge, MA and Cheryl Payne of Largo, FL. Four grandchildren; Christina Sgambato and her husband Matthew of Baltimore, MD, Lindsay Crawford and her husband Timothy of Kittery, ME and Matthew and Connor Payne of Holland, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Sylvia is predeceased by her husband, Roger Payne, a sister, Judith Ramsdell and a brother, Joseph Silverio.
Calling Hours for Sylvia will be held on Thursday morning, August 16, from 8:30 am until 10:45 am, in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; then departing in procession for an 11:30 am Funeral Mass at Saint George Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Entombment at Notre Dame Mausoleum, will be held privately.
