Therese Sylvestre

Therese Sylvestre, 88, of Fitchburg, MA passed away at home on August 2, 2022 after a lengthy illness.  Born in Lacombe,Haiti, to the late Louissant Robert and Analouise Dorsainvil, she was the beloved wife of Louis Pierre Sylvestre; loving mother of Vignoble Sylvestre and Husband Manes Derice of Fitchburg, sister of Benjamin Robert and Aunt of many nieces and nephews.  Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her firstborn Brunel Sylvestre who died on January 4, 2001 at the age of 33. 

Therese spent her early years in Haiti and immigrated to the United States at the age of 51.  She worked as a dietary aide for many years at Riverside Nursing Home in Mattapan as well as in the hotel community.  Therese enjoyed singing, cooking, crochet, gardening and working in her church.   

A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13 from 9-10:30 AM at the Evangelical First Haitian Baptist Church of Worcester, 60 Ellsworth St, Worcester. Therese’s funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 10:30 and will conclude with her entombment in the St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum at 260 Cambridge St., Worcester.
