Thomas J. Kachadoorian, 55, passed away on Saturday, June 29th 2024 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was literally surrounded by his family as he passed.
Tom grew up in the Burncoat area of Worcester and later put down roots in that same area to start his own family. He was born on November 24th, 1968 to Donna (Lombardi) Kachadoorian and the late Thomas Kachadoorian Jr. He graduated from Burncoat Senior High School and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tom was employed by the City of Worcester, DPW in the Sewer Department.
Thomas is survived by his life partner and love of his life of 32 years, Wendy J. Rickert; his daughter, whom he described as “the best thing I’ve ever done”, Hannah E. Kachadoorian of Worcester; his mother, Donna (Lombardi) Kachadoorian of Worcester; his older brother, Mark Kachadoorian of Worcester, his little sister, Jenifer Cozzolino and her husband Brian, of Sterling; nieces, Brianna Kachadoorian, Abby and Courtney Rickert; nephews, Domenic Cozzolino and Anthony Cozzolino; his mother in law, Carol Rickert of Worcester; brother in law and sister in law, Gary and Michele Rickert of Worcester; his Uncle Bob Kachadoorian whom he affectionately called UB; his grand pets, Meliodas and BMO; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Tom was predeceased by his father Thomas “Butch” Kachadoorian in 2015 and nephew Matthew Kachadoorian in 2018.
Tom was a New England kid. From sports to vacation, New England was what he loved. He was a big sports fan and loyal to all the New England teams. His favorite sport of all was golf. He loved to play at Holden Hills C.C. and all-around New England on any course he could. He was a member of the Hye Hackers and cherished playing with them. Tom loved the beach. He loved to sit on the beaches and ride the waves of the Cape. He was extremely proud of his yard and kept it immaculately maintained. Tom loved heavy metal concerts, game nights with friends and couples and bowling. Family was everything to Tom. His most enjoyable times were those spent with Wendy and Hannah. He loved and adored his niece and nephews. “Uncle” was special to them, and they adored him right back.
The Kachadoorian family would like to thank Dr Lori Wirth and team of MGH Head and Neck Cancer Center, Dr Carine Davila and team of MGH Palliative Care Center and the nurses of the 16th and 21st floors for the care, comfort and compassion they gave to Tom during his stay.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. His funeral will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from the funeral home with a procession beginning at 9:30 am to Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 35 Fales Street where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Entombment will follow in St John Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Advanced Thyroid Cancer Research program, 125 Nashua St, suite 540, Boston Ma.
