Thomas “Tom” A. Keogh, 77, of Worcester, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness on Wednesday May 3rd, 2023.
Tom was born in The Bronx, NY, the son of Bernard and Marie (Cannon) Keogh. Raised in Queens, Tom attended McClancy High School and Queensborough College. He began working for Graybar Electric Co. in Long Island City, NY, before joining the military. Tom then served his country proudly as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam War. Tom met the love of his life, Patricia E. (Schaub) Keogh of Queens, NY in 1965. One of their first dates was to the New York World's Fair. They happily married April 27th, 1968, settling back in Queens after Tom was honorably discharged from the Army. Job promotions took him to West Hartford, CT, and Worcester, MA, where they settled permanently. Tom retired in 2020 after more than 47 years with Graybar Electric as one of their longest tenured employees. He also worked 8 years for Don White Associates in Boston.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of more than 55 years, Patricia, his three children that he was so proud of, Thomas C. Keogh, Kerri A. Dawson and her husband Mark of Auburn, Daniel S. Keogh and his wife Jessica of Walpole; four grandchildren he cherished: Christine, Daniel, Julia, and Kyle; a sister Jean Brovero and husband Raymond of Albrightsville, PA, brother-in-law George Schaub and his wife Susanne of Ormand Beach, FL, sisters-in-law Diane Schaub of Brooklyn, NY, and Irene Schaub of Queens, NY, and nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents and sister, Elaine Martinez.
Tom was a longtime member and president of the Worcester County Electric League. He enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Quinsigamond and Cape Cod and always looked forward to the annual family vacations in Wells, ME. He enjoyed model railroading magazines and was forever planning the perfect layout. Over the years he accumulated and organized an impressive coin collection, and spent many hours researching the family ancestries. Tom volunteered and coached for years with Tom Ash Little League, often transporting players that needed rides. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox and WooSox but loved attending his grandchildren’s sports and activities even more. Most of all, Tom was a kind and caring man who treasured his family, loved his home, and looked forward to each new day.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday May 7th from 3 PM to 6 PM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral service will be held Monday, May 8th at 11 AM in the funeral home.
