Thomas L. Maloof, 76, of Petersham, MA, formerly of the Worcester area passed away peacefully with the ones he cherished gathered at his bedside Thursday, June 14th 2018.
Tom was born in Lynn, Mass, the son of the late Thomas L and Rose A. (Nomey) Maloof; Raised and educated in Lynn, Tom furthered his education for a time at Tufts University. In 1968, Thomas married the “Love of his Life” Nancy L Kaeppel. Shortly after marriage, Tom moved his family to Ramsey, NJ where they lived devoted to each other, their daughters, their community, and the business for the next 26 years before returning to the Worcester area in 1997. Three years ago, Tom and Nancy moved to Petersham to be closer to their daughter and her family.
Tom is survived by his love Nancy; his two daughters, Victoria Maloof-Rasmussen and her husband Kyle of Hector, NY; Caren Maloof-Liberis and her husband David with whom they lived; three grandchildren who called him “Jiddo”, Skylar & Ryley Rasmussen and Leah LaForce; cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. A sister, Anne Wallace, pre deceased him.
Tom was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and friend to all he met. He had a great personality and sense of humor, cherished his family and especially his grandchildren whom were his inspiration and pride. Tom was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral community in Worcester, MA where he sang in the choir. While residing in New Jersey, Tom was an active member of St. George’s Church and the Wyckoff Masonic Lodge where he was a past master. Tom went against the New Jersey sports grain by being an avid New England Sports fan, enjoying and rooting for the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Monday, June 18th 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again Tuesday, June 19th from 9:00 am to 9:45 am at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St.. Worcester. His funeral service will be celebrated by the Reverend Milad Selim at 10:00 am at the Cathedral. Burial will take place at 2:00 pm at St. Benedicts Cemetery, West Roxbury, Ma. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. George’s Cathedral. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
