Vangjo Konda

Vangjo Konda (aka Gjoleka Conda) 92 years old, of Worcester died Tuesday July 31st at Vibra Hospital in Leicester after a long illness.  Born in Watertown MA he was the son of the well-known Albanian patriot George (aka Gjoleka) and Vasilo (Gliozheni) Konda.  Vangjo graduated in Economics from University of Tirana, Albania in 1957 and lived and worked as an economist in Albania until returning to the United States in 1994. 

Vangjo leaves his beloved wife of 65 years Eleni (Skende) Konda, three sons Gjergj, Ilir, and Bardhyl.  Four grandchildren Tedi, Martin, Sara and Megan Konda. Two daughters in law, Laura and Silvana.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Albanian Church and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Vangjo’s calling hours will be held Friday August 3, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel 370 Plantation St. Worcester.  His funeral will be Saturday August 4, at 10 am in Saint Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church 535 Salisbury St, Worcester, MA 01609.  Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery Worcester.
