Veronica Coat, 31, of Worcester passed away with loved ones at her side Monday, December 27th, 2021, after a lifelong period of medical challenges.
Veronica was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one of three children of Dominican Republic parents, Nelson Coat and the late Jocelyn Fernandez. She was raised in Brooklyn, NY by their late grandmother, Ana Modesta Duran.
Veronica is survived by her three siblings, Nelkis Coat of Marlborough, Jessica Coat with whom she lived and Raymond Coat of Dudley; her father, Nelson Coat in the Dominican Republic; seven nieces and nephews she cherished and found so much joy babysitting for and guiding, Angelise, Elizabeth, Aaron, Liana, Ariana, Ethan, and Josely; Tia Amintha Fernandez, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and extended family members.
Veronica will be remembered most by her smile. Despite physical challenges her outlook on life always remained positive and hopeful. She found joy in being with and around family notably her nieces and nephews. Veronica loved watching TLC and Food Network channels, music especially Bachata genre. She enjoyed camping and beach outings, trips back home to Brooklyn, and playful banter with brother in law Michael Garcia whom cared for her as his own for many years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and attended church regularly. The Coat family would like to acknowledge and thank Gabriela Almonte "Naikika" and her family, for the exceptional care, comfort, and compassion she provided Veronica.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Brooklyn New York. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with local arrangements.
