Virginia T. “Ginny” (Luvisi) Castagna, 95, of Worcester passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones, Thursday, December 15th , 2022.
Virginia was born in Shrewsbury, February 23rd, 1928, the daughter of Louis J. Luvisi, Sr., and Victoria (Benedictis) Luvisi. Raised in Worcester, she graduated from Commerce High School in 1946 and worked more than 20 years for the Paul Revere/Unum Insurance company before retiring.
She joins in heaven her husband of 48 years, Rudolph “Rudy” Castagna, Jr. who passed away in 2000, her parents, a brother Louis J Luvisi, Jr, and sister, Estelle M. Beriau. Ginny is survived by her two devoted daughters, Barbara J. Castagna, and Susan M. Alford and her husband Willis: Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Virginia was an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling.
A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 21st from 10 am to 11 am followed by her funeral Mass at 11 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60601, www.alz.org or American Heart Association, at www.heart.org. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
